More charges expected over international child pornography ring
Updated
Australian police say they expect to lay more charges over an international child pornography ring.
Dozens of people are facing charges for allegedly downloading images from a European web site.
The Australian Federal police have worked with state police forces for the past six months, and have seized more than a million child pornography images.
Ninety people across Australia are facing child pornography or child abuse charges.
The Commissioner, Mick Keelty, says it's possible that some of the children in the pictures are still at risk.
"The real tragedy of this is that we don't know the origin of a lot of these children," he said.
"We don't know whether these people are still being the victims of child abuse."
At least 1,500 people in Australia allegedly downloaded the images, and the police say they expect to make more arrests.
But they say they have to be sure the pictures were downloaded intentionally before they charge someone.
