The World Bank says it is very excited to be re-engaging with Solomon Islands.

Solomon Islands' Broadcasting reports the Bank's Country Director for the Pacific Islands Nigel Roberts says the bank has been impressed with the development process in Solomon Islands.

Mr Roberts says he's encouraged by the government's focus on the country's productive strategy and the emphasis it's placing on developing tourism, fisheries, agriculture and mining.

He says the World Bank is keen to help the government realise some of these aspirations, and will be setting up a local office in Honiara.
