A Japanese man has stabbed seven people to death, and injured ten others, in the crowded Tokyo market town of Akihabara.
Witnesses say the attacker rammed a car into the crowd in an area popular with shoppers before jumping out and stabbing strangers while screaming.
A witness has described the scene.
"About three people were run over by a truck, which looked like it was done on purpose, not an accident," he said.
"Then people were stabbed afterwards, I saw four or five people collapse on the ground and heard people yelling that they were stabbed."
Police say the 25-year-old suspect initially told them he was a gangster, but later retracted the statement.
He now claims he carried out the attack because he was tired of living.
It is Japan deadliest crime in years.
