NZ commits $US24m to Kiribati aid

The New Zealand government has promised to continue providing aid and assistance to Kiribati.
Our Pacific correspondent, Campbell Cooney, reports as part of her affirmation New Zealand will continue to help the island nation of Kiribati, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark committed around $US24.5 million over the next five years to the island nation.
Last week Kiribati President Anote Tong made an international plea to assist his country manage rising sea levels, including the request that bigger nations may have to help his people as a migration destination.
Mr Tong's has given his thanks to New Zealand, but has repeated his call for help to other countries.
