Research looks at snowsport safety in Australia

Research from Australia's University of Canberra shows there needs to be more education about snowsport safety if Australia's ski fields are to attract more tourists.
It has studied skiing and snow boarding injuries in the Snowy Mountains in the Great Dividing Range between the New South Wales and Victorian border.
The research has found it is difficult to encourage new participants because many people are afraid of the dangers of snowsports.
The university's Dr Tracey Dickson says safety fears can easily be overcome.
"It's a fairly small sport - there's only about 200 thousand adults who participate in snowsports in Australia that we know of at this stage - and when you want to grow the industry, when you want to grow participation, you want to look at all those things that may have stopped people from participating or participating as much as they'd like to," she said.
