Philippines extremists release journalist: officials
Updated
Officials in the Philippines say one of three television journalists abducted by suspected Muslim extremists has been freed.
ABS-CBN cameraman Angelo Valderrama was brought to the home of the mayor of Indanan town on Jolo island.
But anchorwoman Ces Drilon and another cameraman are still in captivity, along with a Mindanao State University professor who had acted as their guide.
Local officials would not say if a ransom was paid to secure the cameraman's release.
The kidnappers, described as members of the Abu Sayyaf group, were understood to have demanded up to $US450,000 in ransom.
The four were abducted on Sunday as they were heading to interview some Abu Sayyaf leaders.
