Australia's Acting PM meets Dalai Lama

Australia's Acting Prime Minister has met Tibet's spiritual leader in Sydney, despite China's opposition to such political contact.
Senator Chris Evans has welcomed the Dalai Lama to Australia.
He says the Dalai Lama offered his views on the situation in Tibet and his interest in engaging in dialogue with China in the lead up to the Olympic Games.
China, Australia's biggest trading partner accuses the Dalai Lama of provoking unrest in Tibet and portrays foreign government contact with him as interference in its internal affairs.
Exiled Tibetan leaders say more than 200 Tibetans died in a crackdown by China after unrest against Chinese rule in March.
China denies those allegations and says rioters were responsible for 21 Tibetan deaths.
