Guam reports rise in sexually-transmitted diseases
Updated
Health authorities in Guam say the rising numbers of sexually-transmitted diseases, particularly syphilis, are becoming a serious concern.
The Marianas Variety reports, the release of a new report on notifiable diseases shows there were 38 cases of reported syphilis last year in Guam.
Dr Robert Haddock, from the Department of Public Health and Social Services, says he wouldn't classify the increase as an outbreak but the figures do show a marked increase in the disease.
