PNG fails in bid for paralympics wildcard entries

Papua New Guinea runner Francis Kompaon is set for the Paralympics in September, but he might be going alone.
PNG has failed in its bid for two wildcard entries for the games.
Powerlifter, Kupini Lewa, and track and field athletes, Jerry Calal and Joyleen Jefferey, will continue to train in Garoka, until the result of their second appeal is known in July.
National Paralympics Games Committee president, Bernard Chan, says the athletes have worked very hard and still hope to go to Beijing.
"To give these guys the incentive to train hard, we would like to have as many as possible go to the paralympics, to give a role model for others to follow in PNG," he said.
