Tokyo's toy show is bubble-wrap delight

A toy which recreates the feeling of popping bubble-wrap is among 36,000 toys on display at an international toy show in Tokyo.

The four-day International Tokyo Toy Show 2008 has attracted 134 companies and is expected to attract 120,000 visitors.

It includes toys that won Japan Toy Association awards - like Bandai's Eye Clops, a digital microscope that projects magnified images on a television screen and Mugen Puchipuchi, a toy that enables one to feel the joy of bubble-wrap popping.

Japan's toy market expanded in 2007 for the first time in four years, after shrinking amid falling birthrates.

Analysts attribute the growth to diversified marketing methods such as on-line shopping and the launch of toys that can appeal to adults.

Toy makers have also been focusing on reviving toys such as baseball boards and miniature cars.
