America wants democracy to resolve Iran's nuclear issue
Updated
The U-S State Department spokesman, Sean McCormack, says America is focused on making diplomacy work in relation to the Iranian nuclear issue.
His comments follow reports that Israel has carried out large-scale military exercises that might have been aimed at demonstrating Israel's ability to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.
Israel's military refused to confirm or deny that the manoeuvres were practice for a strike in Iran.
Mr McCormack wouldn't comment on whether the United States supported or opposed any future Israeli air strikes against Iran.
"You would have to go and talk to the government of Israel about any of their military exercises, and what they intended to accomplish by those military exercises."
He says, "We believe that we can resolve the proximate issue at hand, which is the nuclear question, and that we can resolve these issues through diplomacy, we still hold out that hope."
