Air China confirms regular direct flights to Taiwan
Updated
Air China has confirmed it will begin regular direct flights to Taiwan from July 4.
In a statement, it says it will fly from Beijing and Shanghai to Taiwan's largest city, Taipei.
The announcement comes as cross-strait relations strengthen following the election of Ma Ying-jeou as Taiwan's president in March.
Earlier this month, the two sides agreed to establish direct flights on a regular basis for the first time in 60 years.
