Solomons' civil servants plan protest
Updated
Solomon Islands civil servants are planning a protest on the streets of Honiara on Friday.
The Solomon Islands Public Employers Union says the march is a chance for civil servants and the public to let off steam over outstanding grievances with the government, including the increased cost of living.
The union's general secretary, Paul Belande, says he expects 90 per cent of union members to take part in the one hour long march on Friday afternoon.
His union membership accounts for almost all of the government workforce.
