Solomons telecommunications workers end strike

Striking workers of Solomon Islands telecommunications provider, Telekom, have returned to work after more than a week of industrial action.

More than 175 workers have resumed their duties.

It follows talks late last night between the workers' union, the Solomon Islands Prime Minister and his cabinet.

The workers had been seeking the removal of Telekom chief executive officer Martin Robinson. His fate is uncertain with the Telekom board yet to meet.

Police are now scaling down security in the capital.
