South Korean television reports that North Korea has destroyed the cooling tower at its now defunct nuclear reactor.
North Asia correspondent Shane McLeod reports it follows Thursday's declaration by North Korea of its nuclear programs.
Built to a Russian design, the Yongbyon reactor is thought to be the source for plutonium used in the test of a nuclear device nearly two years ago.
It was disabled last year under the terms of the so-called six party disarmament agreement.
Television crews from the five other countries involved in the talks have witnessed the destruction of the reactor's cooling tower, a symbolic move to follow on yesterday's declaration by Pyongyang of its nuclear programs.
