Unbeaten New Zealand Maori have moved to the top of the Pacific Nations Cup rugby table, overrunning Japan 65-22 in Napier, New Zealand.

Samoa, meanwhile, has moved up to fourth in the championship, equal with Japan, by scoring their first win of the year beating Tonga 20-15 in Nuku'alofa.

The New Zealand Maori win set them up for a title showdown with Australia A in the final round next weekend.

The Australians have a chance to regain the championship lead when they play Fiji on Sunday.
