In France, the army chief of staff, has been forced to resign after a soldier injured more than a dozen people at a military show.
Our Europe correspondent, Rafael Epstein, reports the Army's Chief of Staff, General Bruno Cuche, has stepped down, a sign of the Government's anger after seventeen people were injured on Sunday.
A soldier used live ammunition rather than blanks in his assault rifle, during a military display of hostage rescue techniques.
The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, who's just announced a massive defence forces overhaul, demanded an explanation from his entire army command.
The sergeant involved is in custody and will likely be charged with causing intentional injury. He broke regulations by keeping bullets from a previous excercise.
Organsiers have been criticised for putting an actor posing as a terrorist in the middle of a crowd of people watching the excercise.
