Australia helps family of aid worker shot in Tanzania

Australia's foreign affairs department says it is providing consular assistance to the family of an aid worker who was killed in East Africa earlier this week.
Darren Stratti, 36, was shot on Monday when he confronted a group of robbers in northern Tanzania, where he had been working on the construction of a Children's village.
A colleague of Mr Stratti's is being looked after by Canadian officials who share consular arrangements with Australia in Tanzania.
The foreign affairs minister, Stephen Smith, says the Australian government is deeply distressed by Mr Stratti's death.
"He was an aid worker rendering humanitarian assistance, doing good deeds as an individual, doing good deeds in his nation's name and the circumstances of his death are terrible," he said.
"We feel for his family and are rendering whatever assistance we can."
