Philippines children practice earthquake drill
Updated
School children in the Philippines are participating in a month long earthquake drill.
The exercise has been organised by the country's National Disaster Council.
NDC Chairman, Gilberto Teodoro says schoolchildren simulated an emergency situation, running out of classrooms with books covering their heads
"Even as the China experience shows or Pakistan shows, nobody can really be totally prepared for an earthquake," he said.
"We can minimise the effects of such an earthquake by exercises such as these, particularly when school children are involved."
