New mobile police station for Samoa

Updated July 4, 2008 14:52:52

Samoa has a new mobile police station, thanks to a grant from the Australian government.

AusAID, through its Institutional Strengthening Programme, has handed over the vehicle to local police.

Australia's High Commissioner, Matt Anderson, says the vehicle is the latest example of practical cooperation between Australia and Samoa.

He says the mobile police station will be able to travel to areas outside the capital Apia, to schools, churches, villages and communities in Samoa.
