Troops welcomed home in northern Australia
Updated
More than 400 Australian troops have been officially recognised for their service in Iraq at a parade in the northern Australian city of Darwin.
Hundreds of people lined the streets in central Darwin Saturday morning to officially welcome home the soldiers from Iraq.
The Governor General Major General Michael Jeffery commended the troops on their contribution to the reconstruction efforts at a civic reception.
It's the second welcome home parade in Australia since the Federal Government decided to withdraw from Iraq last month.
Another will be held in Townsville later this month.
