Hundreds of fires burn across California
Updated
Fire fighters in California are battling to contain hundreds of fires as forecasters warn of a heatwave.
More than 330 fires are blazing across the state.
They've burnt out more than 200,000 hectares since June 20 when lightning triggered a series of forest fires.
Fire fighters say they've made some progress fighting the two largest fires along the state's central and southern coastline, but forecasts of higher temperatures combined with lower humidity are likely to hamper their efforts.
