International student sues Australian companies

An international student is suing a number of Australian security companies, after he was allegedly paid just $AU200 for 150 hours of security work at this year's Australian Tennis Open.

That's the equivalent of just $1.26 an hour, which student Faisal Durrani says is a slave's wage.

Mr Durrani's lawyer, Andrew Weinmann says it's one of the worst cases of underpayment he's seen.

"It's the most grave case I've come across before, Mr Weinmann said,

"We commonly enough see people not paid properly, but in this case our client's been paid barely at all - that's very unusual."
