Former Fiji PM advises Nepal's new government

Fiji has advised the world's newest republic Nepal, to use dialogue as the way to solve its political problems.

The advice has come from Fiji's former prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who has just returned from Nepal.

He's told our Fiji correspondent Samisoni Pareti, he met with the former kingdom's leaders including former king, Gyanendra.

Mr Rabuka says the deposed king seems to be adapting well to his new, less opulent lifestyle.

"I met him when he was living in a very humble bungalow above the city, very few staff around," Mr Rabuka said.

"We couldn't see any tea man so his own personal aid went and made the tea."
