Indian parties withdraw coalition support over US nuclear deal
Updated
A group of left-wing parties in India have announced they're withdrawing support from the coalition government, in protest at a civilian nuclear energy deal with the United States.
The withdrawal is expected to lead to a parliamentary vote of no-confidence in the government.
But the prime minister, Manmohan Singh, say he doesn't think the withdrawal will threaten his government's stability.
Mr Singh is confident a new alliance with a regional party will allow his government to survive.
