PNG seeks end to Port Moresby transport disruptions

Updated July 9, 2008 18:57:38

The Papua New Guinea government has announced plans to revamp Port Moresby's public transport system.

The Post Courier newspaper reports, public motor vehicle routes will be put out to tender for companies and individuals to bid for.

The government says it is hoping the move will put an end to disruptions to the transport system that have inconvenienced commuters in the city.

Public motor vehicle operators have been involved in recent strikes, and there are fears there could be more due to high fuel prices.
