Vanuatu's Chief Roi Mata's Domain has been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.

It is the first time a Vanuatu site has been placed on the UN cultural agency's list.

The Chief Roi Mata's Domain comprises three early 17th century AD sites on the islands of Efate, Lelepa and Artok.

They are associated with the life and death of Vanuatu's last paramount chief, Roi Mata.

They include Roi Mata's residence, the site of his death and a mass burial site.
