NKorea pledges nuke disablement by October
Updated
North Korea has pledged to complete the steps to disable its nuclear facilities by the end of October.
A joint statement from the six-party talks, aimed at disarming the Communist state, says the impoverished North will get all 1 million tonnes of heavy fuel oil by the same date - as promised under a disarmament deal.
Last month, Pyongyang produced an inventory of nuclear activities - another of the steps pledged under the deal.
In return, North Korea has been receiving much-needed energy aid and improved diplomatic relations with the United States and Japan.
