Former head of SKorea's Samsung fined $US100 million

One of South Korea's most powerful businessmen, the former head of the Samsung Group, Lee Kun-hee, has been given a suspended three-year sentence for tax evasion.
Lee has also been fined more than a $US100 million.
The 66-year-old was cleared of a number of other charges, including breach of trust.
Prosecutors had sought a seven-year jail term and a fine of more than $US350 million.
Lee stepped down from Samsung in April, after leading the group for more than 20 years.
He remains a key shareholder .
