Malaysian minister says Anwar likely to be detained overnight

Malaysia's home minister says opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was arrested Wednesday over sodomy allegations, is to spend the night in detention.
Syed Hamid Albar says the charges against Mr Anwar are serious and need to be investigated fully.
He told AFP news agency that there is no conspiracy as claimed by Mr Anwar and noone is above the law.
Syed Hamid dismissed the new arrest, despite Mr Anwar agreeing to submit to a police interrogation over the sodomy allegations, saying authorities suspected he had no plans to turn up to the meeting
Mr Anwar's downfall a decade ago triggered massive street protests that drew tens of thousands of people, but Syed Hamid says he does not expect this to happen again.
