Chinese dissident arrested

Human rights activists say a leading Chinese dissident has been arrested, soon after criticising the authorities' response to the devastating earthquake in May.

They say the dissident, Huang Qi, was detained in Chengdu in the quake-hit province of Sichuan.

Local prosecutors have so far not confirmed the arrest.
