International air strikes kill nine Afghan police
Updated
Nine Afghan policemen have been killed by international military air strikes in a clash between police and Afghan troops who mistook each other for Taliban militants.
The "friendly fire" incident happened in the southwestern Farah province when Afghan and international soldiers moved into a district without informing police, who then thought they were militants.
In the ensuing engagement the Afghan troops called for international air support and a police post was bombed killing nine and wounding five other policemen.
The US-led coalition has confirmed the incident and says it is getting the details.
