China works to free 36 trapped miners
Updated
Chinese rescuers are struggling to reach 36 coal miners a day after they were trapped underground by flood waters.
The flooding occurred at a mine in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Monday where 56 miners were working underground.
Rescuers are reducing the water level with pumps, but at the same time they say the oxygen level in the narrow mining tunnel is dropping.
Local work safety officials say seven miners escaped on their own, and 13 have been rescued.
