Around 2,000 artists from 22 Pacific Island countries and territories have celebrated the official opening in American Samoa of the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts.

Held every four years, it is the Pacific's largest regional cultural gathering.

Local media says the main island of Tutuila has been transformed for the event, with flowers decorating road signs and shop fronts, and colourful decorations throughout the capital Pago Pago.
