Major goldfields yet to be explored in Australia

Australian scientists say there could be hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gold in the ground between Bendigo and the Murray River in the country's south eastern state of Victoria.
The scientists studied 8,000 square kilometres of land north of Bendigo and say the area has several major goldfields.
Victoria's energy minister, Peter Batchelor, hopes the results of the study will encourage more exploration in the region.
"It [the study] says that the core vein deposits could be in the order of around a thousand tonnes," he said.
"But we also believe that there is a very high probability - at least 90 per cent - that there would be at least 290 tonnes available for exploration there."
