Malaysian inflation hits 26 year high
Updated
Malaysia's annual inflation rate has risen to a 26-year high of 7.7 percent in June due to a sharp jump in fuel prices.
The government had already said that last month's 41-percent increase in subsidised fuel prices was set to boost inflation in June and July.
But correspondents say the figure still came as something of a surprise as economists had predicted June inflation figure of 6.6 percent.
