Australian couple lose 'wrongful birth' case
Updated
An Australian couple have lost a court case against their obstetrician, who they were suing for the wrongful birth of one of their children.
The women claimed that Dr Sydney Robert Armellin breached his duty of care, when he implanted two embryos, instead of just one.
They wanted $US385,000 in compensation for the cost of raising one of their twin girls.
But Supreme Court Justice Annabelle Bennett has ruled that Dr Armellin was not negligent and that the couple should pay his costs.
