China lifts leprosy ban
Updated
China says it's lifted a ban on foreigners with leprosy entering the country, but people with sexually transmitted diseases and mental illnesses remain barred.
State media reports say the ban on leprosy sufferers was removed this week after the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a resolution aimed at eliminating discrimination against people with the disease.
However, the reports say China's longstanding policies on not allowing people with tuberculosis, mental illnesses and sexually transmitted diseases to enter the country would remain.
Chinese visa forms require people to declare whether they have any such health problems.
