The Australian government has approved more than $US6 million for international aid projects to help those who have fled war, persecution or political strife in their homelands.
Immigration Minister Senator Chris Evans says the funds will help fund projects for people from countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand and Pakistan.
The United Nation's refugee agency, the UNHCR, will receive $US910,000 to build 180 homes for Rohingya families who have fled neighbouring Burma.
A UN Children's Fund project in Thailand will get nearly one million dollars for child protection services in nine refugee camps along the Thai Burma border.
There will also be funds to provide humanitarian help to Bhutanese refugees living in camps in Nepal.
