Solomons Electricity Authority resorts to disconnection
Updated
The soaring cost of power in Solomon Islands, has forced the electricity authority to begin disconnecting customers, including government enterprises, who fail to pay their bills.
The Solomon Islands' Electricity Authority says it estimates non-paying customers are costing it nearly $US3 million a month.
The Solomon Star quotes the authority as saying that as a result, it could not pay a $US2.5 million fuel bill last week.
Authority chairman, Walter Naezon, says it is now cutting off users who do not pay their bills, including state-owned enterprises.
