Australian opposition may change climate policy timing

Australian opposition treasury spokesman Malcolm Turnbull says the coalition may have to change its emissions trading scheme policy in the lead-up to the next election, depending on what the government does.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's administration plans to start its emissions trading scheme in 2010, which is also when the next federal election is due.
This week the opposition partyroom approved a policy under which a policy would "probably" be implemented in 2012.
Mr Turnbull told the ABC that policy may have to change if the government introduces its policy on schedule.
"There's an air of unreality in talking about 2012 today given that we are not the government," he said.
"We can hardly be promising to have one in 2011 or 2012... if it's already in place," he said.
