Former Bosnian Serb leader faces UN War Crime Tribunal
Updated
The former Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, has made his first appearance before the UN War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague.
Stephanie Kennedy reports from the Tribunal that after more than a decade in hiding, Radovan Karadzic made his first public appearance in court one at the UN war crimes tribunal.
His disguise as a self-styled health guru is gone, and he's now clean shaven and sporting a new hair cut.
He told the court there were irregularities with his capture, alleging he'd been kidnapped for three days before the official date of his arrest.
Mr Karadzic also told the court he made a deal with the United States at the end of the Bosnian war that involved his withdrawal from public life.
He opted to delay entering a plea to the charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
He'll be asked to plead to the charges when he reappears in court later this month.
