Japan and Guam alerted to radioactive US submarine leek
Updated
The US Pentagon has notified local authorities that radioactivity may have seeped out of a US nuclear missile submarine during a cruise that included stops in Japan and Guam.
Navy officials say an investigation found that only trace amounts of radioactivity had seeped from a valve.
Japan and Guam were notified of the discovery on Thursday.
The seepage was detected on July the 17th while the submarine was in drydock in Honolulu, Hawaii.
