PNG stock exchange warns over fake share scams
Updated
The Port Moresby Stock Exchange is warning investors not to fall for fake share scams.
The exchange says it's received several reports of PNG consumers giving their money to fake share agents.
The exchange has referred the complaints to the PNG Securities Commision for possible prosecution.
Stock Exchange manager Vincent Ivosa has told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat that people need to be careful.
"We continuously advise our investors through our investment and awareness programs about who the registered brokers are and anyone else is fake," he said.
"So you know if there's any problems I would give us a call and confirm if this person is a registered stock broker or not."
