Asia may establish regional oil stockpile
Updated
Senior officials from 13 Asian nations have agreed to draw up a roadmap to create a regional oil stockpile over the next two years.
Japan put forward the idea on Tuesday at a meeting of what's known as ASEAN-plus-three - which comprises the ten members of the ASEAN bloc, together with China, Japan and South Korea.
After the meeting in Bangkok, a Thai energy ministry spokesman said an expert working group will meet in November in the Philippines to discuss the plan.
Observers say it's likely to be endorsed when ministers from the 13 countries meet on Thursday.
