Fiji agency defends fuel price rises

Updated August 6, 2008 07:51:06

Fiji's Prices and Incomes Board has defended its decision to increase fuel prices for a sixth time this year, describing the move as a regrettable, but unavoidable result of global market pressure.

From today the cost of motor fuel, diesel, kerosene and premixed outboard fuel will go up by between nine and 14 per cent.

The Board conducts monthly price reviews based on international costs, with a two-month lag.
