Australia appoints new UK High Commissioner

The Australian government has appointed John Dauth to be the country's next high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Mr Dauth was the Australian ambassador to the United Nations between 2001 and 2006, and is currently the Australian ambassador in New Zealand.

The role of High Commissioner to the UK has been vacant since February of this year - and Mr Dauth is expected to begin work next month.
