China apologies for stopping ABC journalist
Updated
Chinese officials have apologised for stopping a senior American official from talking to a Radio Australia journalist in Beijing.
Guam Governor Felix Camacho was being interviewed by Radio Australia, when Chinese foreign affairs officials stepped in saying official permission was needed.
But Article six of the regulations on reporting activities by foreign journalists during the Games says foreign journalists need only obtain the consent of the individual.
The governor had agreed to be interviewed by Radio Australia as he toured the Olympic Village.
Chinese officials later sent a message through Guam's chef de mission, apologising for the incident.
