After paying his respects, Mr Rudd flew into Seoul, where he was greeted by a guard of honour.
The Prime Minister is due to hold separate meetings with both the Korean president and prime minister. It is expected the talks will include discussion of a free trade areement between Australia and Korea, and what the two countries can do to tackle climate change.
Mr Rudd's will also give a speech to a business group in Seoul this evening, and then depart for Singapore.
