Solomons opposition issues warning to government
Updated
The most recent motion of no confidence should be a wake up call for the Solomon Islands Government, according to opposition leader Manasseh Sogavare.
He has told the Solomon Star newspaper, the motion was not about a fight to regain power, but rather a message to the government to seriously address outstanding issues facing the Solomons.
The government retained power by an overwhelming 39 votes to eight, after the opposition last week moved the motion of no confidence against prime minister Dr Derek Sikua.
Mr Sogavare says, despite the defeat of the motion, the Opposition is satisfied because it was able to raise a number of serious issues that the government needs to address.
